Who are The Carlyle Family ?

The Carlyle Family are a mum, dad, daughter and son who together play Scottish Dance Music as a family band. We play a wide range of functions, ranging from Accordion & Fiddle Clubs to weddings and ceilidhs, with music ranging from traditional Scottish dances to chart hits.

The Carlyle Family live in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland and play gigs in Central Scotland, with occasional visits to the North of England.

The Carlyle Family are available to travel to any part of the world, providing we are off on holiday together. This usually happens around Easter for two weeks and during the summer (July-August). We are interested in visiting Caledonian or St Andrews Societies around the globe.

The Carlyle Family can be contacted via e-mail. Contact Matt on Matt@mcarlyle.freeserve.co.uk

Meet Matt

Matt is the dad in the Carlyle Family and is our accordion player, playing an Elkavox 83 accordion. Matt has been playing accordion for a number of years, and also plays keyboard, guitar and drums.

Matt writes music for The Carlyle Family as well, including the title track of our first album, "Gie's A Wee Intro" and a tune on the second album, "Cissie's Plastic Elbow", which was written as a tribute to a good friend of the band.

Matt also plays accordion with an Irish pub band, "The Lobsters", and keyboard with a Sixties/Seventies duo called "Just For You".

Matt is also a vocalist when we play weddings and dances.
